Elks pummel Pippins 19-8

Bend, OR - Bend mashed the Pippins Friday 19-8 on a record-setting night at Vince Genna Stadium.

With temperatures pushing the upper 90s, the Elks kept pace with the heat, sizzling up the scoreboard in the early going and never turning back.

Ty Silva lit the spark for the overwhelming offense to come with an RBI double in the second that ignited Bend's explosive bats that went ballistic, rallying for nine runs in the third that blew the game out of proportion.

The Elks went through their entire lineup and then some, feeding off eachother's fuses for the ultimate fireworks show, pulling off a string of eight RBI-producing at-bats.

Bend would keep the sparks flying in the fifth, putting up a seven spot, highlighted by Josh Wakefield, Kaleb Karpstein, Ty Johnson, and Ty Silva RBI knocks.

The Pippins would push the game back to within single digits in the top of the eighth, only for the Elks to extend their lead back to double digits on Devin Carter and Johnny Elliot's one-run singles to match Bend's season high in runs at 19.

Bend broke its season best in hits with 23 as ten different Elks recroded multiple hits including three hit performances by Karpstein, Luke Reece and Silva who had a game high five RBI.

The Elks will look to extend their seven game win streak and earn their first series win of the second half Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
