Bend, OR - Bend stayed sizzling Saturday night, smushing Yakima Valley 10-2 to secure the series win and extend the Elks win streak to eight.

Bend’s bats floored the gas out the gate, scoring six runs in the opening frame to set the tone for another dominant night.

The Elks strung together eight straight base runners in the first, including five hits with Jace Miller, Vinny Salvione, and Isaiah Burke.

Bend could then rest on the arm of Jackson Elder who shoved seven scoreless frames, retiring 21 of the 25 batters he faced including a season eight strikeouts.

The Elks added an additional run on a Brian Duroff sacrifice fly in the fourth and then tacked on two runs in the seventh on Abbrie Covarrubias’ first hit as an Elk.

Duroff would then smack a double in the eighth and advance around on the next two pitches on past balls to push Bend to the double-digit mark for the third consecutive game.

The Elks have now outscored their opponents 40-14 over the last three games.

Bend was on the brink of its fourth shutout of the season but loss of command late by Xavier Richards surrendered the only two runs on the night to the Pippins.

Bend will attempt to complete its third consecutive sweep on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at Vince Genna Stadium. Come catch the Elks before they hit the road!
