GAME NOTES

Yakima, WA - The Bend Elks embark upon their first road trip of the summer as they head north this weekend to take on the Yakima Valley Pippins.

The Pippins mark the first opponent for the Elks in West Coast League South Division play. Bend wrapped up a six-game home stand in which the Elks got swept by the Wenatchee AppleSox for the first time ever and got a series win over the Port Angeles Lefties.

Yakima Valley sits at .500 with a 3-3 record in the WCL South. The Pippins won its opening series over the Cowlitz Black Bears and stole game one against the Corvallis Knights. Yet, Yakima Valley dropped the final two games of its series against the six-time defending WCL champion Corvallis Knights.

Last season, Bend took five of six games against Yakima Valley, outscoring the Pippins 60 to 33 over the season series.

Yakima leads the all-time series 25-14, including five sweeps over the Elks since the Pippins franchise started in 2014.

All of this weekend’s games will be held at Yakima County Stadium starting at 6:35 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6:05 p.m. Sunday. Fans can watch on the Pippins YouTube Channel and listen on Bend Elks Mixlr.
